Who kill the journalist Zardasht Osman ?
Ararat News-Publishing (ANP) – Brussels, Fiona Lorin, Roni Alasor – 1Juni 2010 - The murder of the student in journalism Zardasht Osman in Federal Kurdistan, on 6 May raises many questions on the eventual perpetrators of such crime. At the same time, neighboring countries work hard to undermine the democratization of the Kurdistan Region. The killing of Zardasht Osman is so tragic that, even it has been brutally misused by the enemies of Kurdish people, maybe by his own killer(s).
Zardasht Osman, 23-years old Kurdish student in journalism known for his critical in Kurdistan Region, was kidnapped from his University in Erbil and found dead two days later in Mosul. Amnesty International and other human right groups urged the authorities of Kurdistan Region to take immediate actions to investigate this murder, as well as several other attacks on critical journalists in the region.
Kurdistan Region Presidency and Government, as well as the KRG Security Agency, immediately condemned the murder of Zardasht Osman and promised extensive criminal investigation to find out who is behind the crime.
The President of the Kurdistan Region responded to the tragic event by commanding the formation of a special investigatory committee. The Kurdish Regional Government declared that: “This is a heinous crime and a crime designed to undermine the security of the region and to attack the life and liberty of the people”.
In a press release issued by the Kurdistan Region Security Protection Agency, its director Mesrour Barzani states that: “The perpetrators of this crime aim to disrupt the security situation in the Region and to create an environment of fear amongst citizens”. “They will not be successful in their objective and we will redouble our efforts to prevent this sort of violence from affecting the lives of the Region’s inhabitants”, declares the Security Agency.
Without taking part in the murder case of Zardasht Osman, two different Western Intelligent sources told to us that the possibility of involvement of regional countries in destabilizing actions against the Kurdistan Region should not be excluded. Another source said that the well-known critical position of the killed journalist student on KRG leadership could make easier for other neighboring countries to use his murder as accusation and targeted attack against the Kurdish Government.
Some documents which we could see prove that countries in the region, especially Iran and Turkey, work hard by different means to destabilize Kurdistan Region. Top secret plans dated September 2007 reveal that all kind of methods, including provocations and heavy bombing-terror, should be used in “North Iraq” in order to destabilize the region until they come to the position as those countries whish.
In an interview with the Kurdish “Gulan Magazine”, Kurdistan intelligence chief Masrour Barzani said that the brutal murder of the Kurdish student Sardasht Osman was "politicized" from day one which is not helping the investigation process: “No space was left for legal and governmental institutions to investigate this case in a legal way”, said Masrour Barzani, and added that “such incidents are strange in Kurdistan Region, and those who carry out such terrorist actions are also strange to the Kurdish society; hence, it needs careful analysis”.
